REGENERATION and ACCEPTANCE
We are inseparable members of the web of the natural world. I invite us to interact, to feed our interconnections with nature and with each other. I invite us to look freshly upon the familiar. My work challenges the cultural reliance on dominance as a response to fear and implies an alternate structure based on connection and exploration.
The process of how things are made, of how we are changed by living, is embedded in my art making practice. All things touch, pieces rarely arrive at a state of completion. Continuing onward is more compelling than stopping: looking deeply and slowly, touching the sources of joy and deep power.
Turning and returning to the smoothness of
alignment after the wobbles of fear.
Walking slowly, I touch the Earth and I breathe.
The strength of memory and connection flows back into my consciousness.
A smile, a glimpse of moss springing up in a carpet, the music of my children pounding out life,
we are still here.
The stars above me have etched their pattern upon my back like a tattoo I have never applied and set me in my place, this place, which is my home.
Forgiveness has washed me clean. The water has been purified and I am free to drink.
